The BaR Rules

The BaR Rules

The Break a Record (BaR) Concept is a form of Gamification and as any other game, it has also its own rules. These rules are also based on the values and beliefs which this concept is built upon.

Read, understand and follow these BaR Rules to ensure a successful BaR Cycle.

The BaR Concept aims to achieve improvement through engagement. So empower the team and use the BaR Event as a team building activity.

The Bar Concept is based on creating positive episodic memories with the BaR Event.  Positive communication is an integral part of this.

Sharing knowledge is a basic principle of the BaR Concept and in fact it is also a rule.

This is the reason why there should be no competition between different teams but the aim should be always to improve personal best. Putting different teams in competition will hinder sharing of knowledge.

Carrying out the BaR Event and identifying the winning moves will enable the team to gain new knowledge about the process and at the end of the BaR Cycle this should be shared with other teams.

Although we recognize that the BaR Team is doing something extraordinary (breaking records), the rule is that there is no monetary recognition. But we make sure that the BaR Event is treated as a big event and the team’s effort is recognized throughout the whole organization.

When a BaR Event is scheduled and the team is committed, the date and target of the event are fixed and cannot be moved.
